Even as I speak, I'm here living thru the historic 2020 wildfires of Oregon & Washington and am situated in the Portland area where the air quality is currently the worst anywhere on the planet. Being in a 500 s.f. apartment on the top 3rd floor, I couldn't escape some smoke getting into the apartment. It was beginning to cause headaches and generally just making me feel lethargic.So when the unit arrived yesterday at my Amazon locker, I rushed over to pick it up and couldn't wait to plug it in. Following the instructions for smoke pollution specifically in initially working to mitigate the worst of the problem, I ran the unit at full speed for the recommended 20 minutes before turning the speed down a notch. Immediately upon turning on the unit, I could smell the scent of smokey air coming out of the exhaust fan; and because the airflow was concentrated, I could smell the smoke odor more readily than simply breathing the overall ambient air in the room.The smokey odor coming from the exhaust lasted for hours, or all night in fact. I got to the point where I thought it wouldn't go away. But with that in mind, it's important to remember that HEPA air cleaners are NOT necessarily designed to remove foul odors. So if someone in your house has stinky feet, or underarm odor, then probably DON'T expect this thing to do you much good.With that said, though, the fact that this unit has a carbon-activated filter, then it can help to remove smoke odors circulating directly in the air even if it won't remove the odor of smelly feet. The long & short of it here, however, is that I finally just went to bed leaving the unit running all night for the next 8 hours. I had actually given up on the idea that I would stop smelling smoke odor coming from the exhaust fan.But lo & behold, it's the next day here and the smokey odor is indeed gone! I can stick my nose right into the path of air coming from the exhaust fan and it smells fresh & clean.So the take on this, obviously, is that there was apparently just a LOT of very fine smoke particles inside the apartment; and as such, it took a good long time to ultimately filter it out after making dozens of passes through the filtration system. That and the fact that there is still some smoke entering the space on an ongoing basis, it took this little machine a lot of work to catch up to the problem and get ahead of it.No feeling of a headache coming on so far today. I woke up feeling like my old self again, just feeling energized after a good night's sleep instead of feeling groggy & dopey from breathing in contaminated air all night.Now, whereas the listed "effective range" of the unit is only 219 s.f. and my apartment is 500 s.f., it also took that much longer to circulate the air a sufficient number of times to actually cleanse it. And there's nothing much I can do about that personally, since I don't have room for a much larger machine or even to accommodate two of these machines.As far as the noise level of the unit, it's fine with me and even on the #2 speed setting is quieter than my stand-up oscillating fan. The #3 speed is fairly loud, but I'll just be running it on #2 from now on anyway during the day.When I went to bed last night, I put it on #1 really just to help give the fan motor a rest, but not because #2 was too loud for me. And I haven't actually used the sleep setting, because there's no reason to right now anyway. So I can't give an opinion on that.But all the same, I will leave this thing running FULL TIME until it either burns out or until this smoke finally goes away. Even then I'll just leave it on the #1 speed indefinitely until it dies on me and then I'll buy a new one.But I'm "sold American" on this thing! It works!! And you can ask anybody, because I don't write many reviews (good or bad) on products I buy from Amazon. That's my bad, because I should write more reviews than I do and the problem is that I'm just plain lazy.But I was certainly compelled to do my duty here and write a review on this machine. We looked at the filter at the end of the 1st day and you could see all the impurities it had pulled from the air. I thought it was to replace the filter but I just did this for the second time although the filter was not that dirty and the light is still on. It does seem to be still working. I would like to find a user manual. If you purchase this item please retain the paperwork.

It picks up a lot of particles from the air circulation. I would give it 5 stars but the lights are very bright on it and annoying at night especially since it is touted for bedroom use. Good product.

I live alone but I smoke in my house sometimes, people would walk in my house and say that they smelled smoke before I owned this. I actually had it for a week before I opened it up and realized the filter was in the casing in a plastic bag. I thought it was working OK before I removed it from the bag, but once I did you couldn't even tell. If you are buying this because you have a cigarette smoker in your house, I would highly recommend it 3 people found this helpful

4.0 out of 5 stars Great at what it does, I wish it was less bulky I have had this for about 8 months now and it just now needs to have its filter replaced. I keep it running almost all the time. It runs on sleep mode while I'm sleeping, and I set it on high with a timer for when I leave the house. I definitely notice a difference when I haven't used it in a few days versus having it on frequently because of the dust that builds up. It is a life saver for me because dusting is my least favorite chore. Although there is still dust build up, it is not as bad as with no purifier. We don't have any smoking in the house, but we do have three dogs so to replace the filter I am going to order the yellow ones that are made for pet owners. I have high hopes that it will work even better for me. The only downside I have for this product is that it is so big and bulky. I placed this air purifier near our Litter Robot and the litterbox smell is gone along with the musty smell that took over our basement. We ran it high for 6 hours straight and now we have it running on low, and the basement is habitable once again.Highly recommeneded so far. Ill update if it fails 2 people found this helpful

I've been using this for over a year now in my relatively small bedroom, and can't see myself not ever having a purfiier. The price seems more than fair, the unit is basic (so you don't have to read thru 30 pages trying to figure something out), and it's light weight.Note that, like clockwork, every 90 days (give or take a week), the unit will notify you of replacing the filter. I always buy the same replacement filter that handles pet odors, etc, so that is $35. I don't mind spending $100-$120 a year on this little purifier. It really is a sound purchase. Not sure how it would work in a larger room. Nonetheless, I'm very pleased with this unit. Recommend for sure. 10 people found this helpful

This air purifier is so affective we are just amazed. We vacuum the filter every two weeks and the amount of dust and dog hair it has filtered out of the air is truly shocking! Who knew that air could be so clean and to think we were breathing in all of that debris all along. Couldn’t and wouldn’t live without this air purifier. Note that I have asthma, allergies, and I'm deathly allergic to synthetic fragrances.When I stopped by to visit my sister unannounced one day, she opened the door and I was hit in the face with the smell of air freshener and candles. Knowing about my asthma and allergies, she said, "wait right here for just a minute." She closed the door retreated into her house for just a few seconds and then came out to meet me on the porch. She told me we just needed to wait for a couple of minutes before going inside. I wasn't sure what to expect and figured she simply blew out the candles and left it at that. There's no way she had time to open all of her windows and air out her house for me.We chatted on the porch for a few minutes and then she opened the door. I held my breath and braced myself for another onslaught of synthetic fragrances. We stood there for a second and lo and behold, no fragrance! I couldn't believe it. I asked her what she did.Enter the Lěvoit air purifier. (Insert singing angels here.) In the few minutes that we chatted on the front porch, that air purifier removed all the fragrance that was in the air. I think it had only been about five minutes. She had it set on the highest setting, level three. It can only be on that setting for a maximum of 10 minutes but, you can kick it down to a level one or an even milder, quieter sleep mode. I was amazed! My throat wasn't burning, my lungs were not itching and irritated, my airways were not constricting and closing up on me. I could breathe! It was amazing!I also want to note that she has a cat who occasionally uses a litter box and, I couldn't smell that either.Normally, I would have been impressed and then, put off purchasing a purifier because I like to do my research and comparison shop. My sister is even more thorough in her product research than I am. So, I felt the universe had spoken. She had already done the research and she had one of these on each floor of her home. As soon as I got home, I ordered one for my bedroom and one for the rest of the house.I have since ordered the smaller, desktop version for my child's bedroom and one for my home office.These already come with a filter in them. You can purchase the same replacement filters or filters that are more specified for rooms with pets or spaces that may have other chemicals/allergens in the air. I recommend sticking with the Lěvoit brand filters. I studied reviews for offbrand filters that fit this model. The consensus is that they do not work properly and do not filter nearly as well.If you or someone you love has asthma and allergies, I cannot recommend this enough. I was surprised that I could notice a difference in the overall smell of the house after running this for only a few days. My daughter came over one day and mentioned several times how clean the house smelled. I mean, the house didn't smell like a dumpster or anything, but we have a dog, and it freshened things up a little. It's a little undersized for the room, and the next size would've been better. I run it at the middle fan speed, as high is a little noisy. I'm very sensitive to odd noises like a vibration or motor hum. I could easily have this in the bedroom with no problems with noise. 4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, bigger than expected. The purifier does work well, but I would recommend the Levoit Core 400S over this model. This "bedroom" model is pictured sitting on a night stand, but it's really too large for that. If you stack two one-gallon paint cans on top of each other, that's about the size of this purifier. It's likely you'll set it on the floor, so if you're going to do that, you might as well get the bigger model. It covers more square footage, is quieter, has an auto feature and is only about 1 1/2" larger in diameter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bang-For-The-Buck-enist So, the air in your home or office is giving you a hard time. What do you do?You get an air purifier! So I can not speak to the specific claim of the filter being HEPA. I'm no filter-oligist :P.What I can say is this air purifier has made my apartment much more livable. For months I thought I was just getting used to the new apartment/envronment of the state I just moved to. Turns out there was something in the air kicking up my alergies. Within. . . . 20 minutes of running this at max fan speed, I could feel a distinct difference in the room. So, HEPA or not, it does filter the air.Now, a few things to keep in mind. The title claims 1095 sqft of coverage. If your environment has tall celings making for more than 'normal' cubic feet; this air purifyer may not be enough for you.. However, in my ~400sqft apartment, It's fine. Peak filteration on fan speed three, and acceptable filtration at fan speed two. At speed two, the fan is not very audible over my wall AC unit. At fan speed three, the fan is audible, but not distracting. I also beleive, the claimed 1095sqft of filtration is only possible at fan speed three. 4 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet, Efficient and Simple to Use Not sure I notice a difference in the air quality, but it's very quiet and easy to use and clean. I only hear it at high speed, and it's just a whir like a fan; at medium speed it's completely silent. It has a setting to turn the lights on the control panel off—genius. Other settings for night, timer, and filter alert are accessed from the unit's top. the main filter needs to be replaced every six months, according to the manufacturer, so that's pretty convenient. I have noticed that my allergy symptoms are somewhat reduced, and that is my main concern. So after a month I guess it's working. I also got a smaller model for my bedroom that is even quieter.

I have tried other air purifiers in the past and really like this one the most. I currently have two in my apartment going 24/7 and it helps. I can tell the difference in air quality and I’m not so congested. Easy to use and replace filters. There is a touch LCD menu in the top of the unit where you can change the settings and it notifies you when the filter needs to be changed, which is very helpful. 4.0 out of 5 stars Cost effective for small spaces/limited use An air purifier is not a complicated device. It is a fan, and an air filter. The fan pulls air through the air filter, and catches various particles and impurities in the air. As long as you have a decent HEPA filter, and a fan that has enough velocity to circulate the room air through the filter effectively, it will work to clean the air. You can build one yourself with a box fan and some high quality furnace filters and duct tape if you have to.So what distinguishes this one from the hundreds of others out there, why is it so popular?(1) Low up front costs - this has enough power to handle a small room effectively and a true HEPA filter at a pretty low initial cost.(2) Easy to live with - the fan is very quiet except on high, and even on high it isn't obnoxiously loud. Changing the filter takes about 10 seconds and is easy to do. There is a pre-filter to catch large dust/animal hair and the like which you can vacuum to extend the life of the HEPA filter for small particles. The unit itself is not huge or ugly, so it can sit in the corner of most rooms without being objectionable.(3) Available filters - this unit's extreme popularity means that there will likely be filters available for many years.(4) It does work - I bought an air quality meter after the recent wildfire smoke episode, and it shows me that this thing does a pretty good job in small rooms. In bigger rooms it will still provide some benefit, but it is really not able to move enough air quickly enough to clean a large room.Downsides:The filters are relatively small, so they will have to be changed fairly frequently if you run the unit constantly. How frequently? I don't know, your mileage will vary depending on how many pets you have, how much wildfire smoke is in your area, etc. But I would expect to buy at least two a year if comparing this to other units that may have larger filters you need to change less often. So think about the total running costs and not just the up front cost when comparison shopping here. If you are thinking about saving money by trying to run this in a bigger room than it is designed for, don't go down that road. You do need to size your unit to the area you are trying to keep clean. A large room needs a larger unit with a bigger fan and a bigger filter. Also, all of these things are quieter if not running on high. So it is better to get a bigger unit even one that handles more than you are asking it to, and then run it slower and change the filters less often versus trying to save money up front and then driving the thing as hard as it will go to barely get any benefit. 1,055 people found this helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Game changer. I only just got this yesterday and used it last night for the first time but I feel compelled to write a quick review already. This thing is a game. changer. Ever since moving to Texas, I suffer from terrible seasonal allergies. I never have in my life until now (turns out I'm allergic to a handful of trees that are native around here. Fun.) Some years are worse than others but this year is baaad. For the past few weeks my mornings have had me waking up congested and unable to breathe, blowing wads of snot out of my nose (sorry!), and with a itchy/scratchy sore throat. First thing I do is take an allergy pill and wait in misery until it finally seems to kick in around mid morning. (I've had a terrible time finding meds that work too. It just sucks.) I don't know why I never thought to get an air purifier. I guess when I thought of air purifiers I'd always think of the fancy Dyson ones that cost hundreds of dollars. I mean, puh-lease. Not happening. Then I found this little guy. Had great reviews, was the perfect little size for our master bedroom (216sqft), and reasonably priced with reasonably priced replacement filters. In a plee of desperation I talked my husband into us trying it. It got in yesterday (quicker than expected, yay!). I immediately unboxed it upon getting home from work and plugged it in. It says you only need to run it for about 15-20 minutes on high to cycle the room but I set that little baby on high with a two hour timer and let it run. When it was time for bed, I set the 6 hour timer on sleep mode. The sleep mode is great. It's a lot more quiet than I expected. I still expected to be able to hear a little white noise from it (which doesn't bother me at all) but unless I lift my head off the pillow and really listen, I can only just baaarely hear it. And I have it on my side of the bed about 3 feet away. Our home air system is louder than it on sleep mode. If you enjoy white noise, you could probably just run it on low and be fine. It has a button to turn off the indicator lights at night too so you don't have bright lights keeping you awake if that's a problem for you. Anyway, I woke up this morning with NO allergy symptoms. None. No congestion, absolutely clear nasal passages, and NO sore throat at all! I'm blown away. I'll try to come back and revise this review if my opinion changes but after the first night and the relief I was FINALLY able to feel from my allergies this morning I absolutely rate this thing 5 stars. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have! We’ve been using the same Levoit core 300 for probably three years now and it still works great! Sucks up so much dust, loose pet hair, smoke, stench, even fruit flies. We keep it running in our bedroom at night and move it to the living room during the day. Filters are replaced twice a year but can be replaced more often if needed, especially if you have pets. It’s super easy to use; just plug it in and press the touch screen buttons to select a light, medium, or strong air flow, night mode (which turns the light off), or a timer to turn off automatically. There is also a “lock” option so if you have little kids they can’t mess with it. Air flow is great even after 3 years! Gives off very little light or none at all. Super quiet on low setting and makes some fan noise on high but it’s a pleasant sound like a muffled white noise. We plan on getting another one for our nursery. 51 people found this helpful

Unfortunately the open wound really stinks. Frequent changes of the dressing and bandage. Mom is in a 1-bedroom unit at a facility. 5.0 out of 5 stars Works well next to the Cat litter box Pair this with the "pet" filers they sell and it works great to keep the room where the cat litter box is from smelling and getting dusty from the clay litter. Can extend the life of the filters buy back flushing them with compressed air if you have a compressor. One person found this helpful

I barely see dust accumulate on our electronics after long term use! very good! the air feels 90% cleaner! and the house somehow got alittle colder? i wonder if dust insulated the house.i was skeptical but i heard youtube videos that this thing is quite strong for its size. But seems the reviews were genuine. Get this if you don't have a air filtered home. its close to a Hvac system filter in compact form.Setting a fan infront of it blowing away from the device should increase speed of dust suction if you need it to. but it does a very good job room to room.I do recommend moving it to the next room after the air is cleared in your room. 5 people found this helpful

I usually turn it on an hour or so before I go to bed, then use the timer to run it for the duration and fan speed I feel I need. Good purchase, pleased with the purifier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got rid of pet urine smell! This product saved me from replacing brand new carpet in a bedroom. Dog urine smell pervaded and could. It locate the spot. Finally had a carpet cleaner clean it, despite being only a few months old. His special deodorizers only worked for one day and smell began to return. Just Could not get rid of the smell. Finally ordered this product and in 2 hours the smell had significantly dissipated. Three hours and it was GONE! When it Egan to come back a few days later, I turned it on low for a couple hours and odor disappears. Yay! One person found this helpful

I live in an area where dust from farming activities seem to be happening all of the time along with a dog that sleeps in the bedroom. This purifier does a great job and filters are not too costly to replace. I would recommend this product !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Long lasting hard working I have had this for 4 years now and it has run non stop on fan speed medium or high. It has one of the absolute best fan bearings I have seen. It does not wobble and is silent except the fan blades themselves make noise but the bearing does not. I have rabbits who shed very fine fluffy fur. With this near the cage the hair will get trapped in the outer or pre filter and not float around the house. I vacuum the pre filter and it’s back in business for a full 6 months on each filter. My (litter box trained) rabbit free-roams in my bedroom, and this made a noticeable improvement to the air quality! P.S. she likes to climb and got up there on her own while it was turned off. 5.0 out of 5 stars These are great air cleaners We live in the western part of the US, and downwind of the big fires in California and Oregon. We purchased these to help with the smoke which makes its way into our house. They do the job, improving air quality without much noise. One is in our bedroom, and we keep it on night mode, which is nearly silent. We did need to fashion a cover for the control pad, to handle the light.

I swear the air at home feels cleaner, my allergies aren't as bad, and the puppy smell is no longer noticeable. Very happy. I may buy another one for my house because we use it in the livingroom in the day time, then at night I move it to my bedroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little machine! I bought this small sized air purifier for our bedroom (we have a dog) and I think it has made a huge difference in the allergens in the room! I don't sneeze NEARLY as often as I was doing before setting it up. It has several features that I use, like the low, medium and high settings for the fan. But it also has a feature that lets you have it running but none of the lighted icons show up - I'm a very light sleeper and any light bothers me. So, this was a great feature for me! 5.0 out of 5 stars Purifier and white noise all in one I bought the Levoit during the height of Covid. As a purifier, it works well. It’s easy to clean and the filter, with nightly use, didn’t need to be replaced for a full nine months. It’s still kicking 4 years later and does double duty as a white noise machine which covers the racquet my noisy neighbors make…..if I take a daytime nap, I turn it on to the highest power and it helps me sleep uninterrupted.

We cook almost everyday at home (and Indian food on most days) and this gets a lot of the cooking smell out. It’s super efficient in getting out the dust, which I realised when I was cleaning out the filter. It’s pretty compact and can be very conspicuous when placed in the corner. The assembly was easy, took about 2 minutes to get this up and running. I’m really happy with its performance so far. The apartment smells fresher since we’ve started using this air filter. 5.0 out of 5 stars Very durable and reliable air purifier I’ve had many of air purifiers in my lifetime, but this purifier seems to keep my house constantly dust and dander free. I have a cat and he sheds constantly, so it is important for me to always have a good air purifier. This one does the job efficiently. Also, it is a great size shape and look. The only problem that I have with it is where to keep it so it’s kind of out-of-the-way. But I think I found a good pretty good spot for it. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars That it really does clean the air. We had a tornado that broke the tree down and put a branch through the ceiling. There was insulation all over the room. Vacuumed as much as could get. But the air was filthy with particles, I couldn't be in the room for more than 5 minutes.Coughing my head off!This unit was placed in the room, door closed, windows closed and the air was cleaned in just a few hours. I followed the directions and cleaned the filter as the unit at full speed.If I had read the instructions more carefully I would have found that the fan can be set for 2 to 8 hours then turns off. BUT, if I don't set the timer it will run 24/7 which it does.I highly recommend their products. Also have their humidifier it works just as great
